I keep telling myself that there are three of four great/hilarious/insightful posts covering the events of the past couple of weeks that I’m gonna write.
Let’s just go ahead and label that an untruth. We all know I never write anything hilarious or insightful around here. Onward, then, to the FUTURE!
Last night, I shook the hand of one Jason Schwartzman, aka Max Fischer, founder of The Rushmore Beekeepers, The Rushmore Bombardment Society, The Rushmore Kite Flying Society, and the savior of Latin. Also, he wrote and directed a hit play. Perhaps you’ve heard of him?
The guy was at our own Tara Theater for a showing of Wes Anderson’s Darjeeling Limited, which he co-wrote, and the Q&A that followed. Jason was funny and friendly, and stayed around for almost an hour after the Q&A until everyone had their picture or autograph request filled, or question answered.

The movie was very funny, and while it’s nowhere near knocking the almighty Rushmore off the throne of favorites, I did like it very much. It opens on a lot more screens tomorrow, and you get the added convenience of seeing the “Part 1″ short film, The Hotel Chevalier, on the big screen in front of the movie, instead of hunting it down on iTunes like I did (not that I’m complaining about the chance to watch it early and without leaving my chair).
So, there’s your assignment. Go check out The Darjeeling Limited, especially if you have an interest in travel, or India, or sibling rivalries, or luggage. I don’t think you’ll regret it.
Ohhhh… of all the days that it DIDN’T rain this year….. I really really really like luggage, you know…. *sigh*
“let’s go get a drink and smoke a cigarette.”
He’s smiling at you Beavis.
